May 24, 2662 – Bangkok, the Ministry of Finance and U City have signed a development project for the Rojchak Sam tax office site after reaching a mutual agreement. U City is ready to invest 3 billion baht to establish a luxury hotel at the historic landmark along the Chao Phraya River, emphasizing the preservation of historical buildings to enhance tourism value for the local community in Bang Rak. The hotel is expected to open in the year 2568.

U City Public Company Limited, as a representative of the joint venture, collaborated with Aman Resort Services Limited and Silverlink Resorts Limited to hold a signing ceremony for the development agreement of the Rojchak Sam tax office site with the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance. Ms. Amornrat Klampol, a real estate development advisor from the Treasury Department, signed alongside Mr. Kwin Kanjanapas, a director of U City Public Company Limited.

The signing of this agreement covers a 30-year lease contract for the Rojchak Sam tax office site along with the hotel building and other structures. The joint venture, as the contracting party, will pay a total of 1.66 billion baht in rent for the land and buildings to the Treasury Department. U City Public Company Limited will be responsible for developing the land, which includes restoring the old building and constructing a new one, with the aim of operating a hotel.

Ms. Piyaporn Phanched, CEO of U City Public Company Limited, stated that the hotel development plan in this area focuses on preserving the 130-year-old historical building to reflect the beauty of original architecture while constructing a new building. The luxury hotel will cover approximately 13,600 square meters and include guest rooms with complete amenities, as well as restaurants, banquet halls, and conference rooms to promote tourism in the Bang Rak area and along the Chao Phraya River. The company plans to allocate a construction budget of around 3 billion baht, with the hotel expected to be completed and operational by the year 2568.

The Rojchak Sam tax office building is an ancient structure of historical significance, constructed in 1888. It was previously used as the customs office and is a three-story building with a four-story central portico in a neoclassical style. It is an important landmark that has been part of the riverside community for a long time, telling the story of trade history, architecture, lifestyle, and the cultural blend in the area. In 1959, this site was converted into the Bang Rak Fire Station, serving for over 60 years before relocating.

After the contract signing, U City will collaborate with experts from the Fine Arts Department to survey the building area for historical documentation before proceeding with the restoration of the old structure. It is anticipated that the historical excavation and restoration, along with the overall development of the area, will take approximately six years before opening for service.

"U City recognizes the importance and historical value of the cultural heritage associated with the Rojchak Sam tax office. We are committed to restoring and improving this historical building while developing the surrounding area with a focus on conservation, alongside showcasing the dynamic changes in the local community's lifestyle in a contemporary manner. This aims to revitalize this historical building and create added tourism value for the local community," said Ms. Piyaporn.
